Peter Coleman Joins Online Lender for Real Estate AssetAvenue as CFO

assetavenueAssetAvenue, an online lender for real estate investment propertiesannounced that Peter Coleman has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer. Coleman brings more than 20 years of financial management and investment banking experience focused on technology companies. At AssetAvenue, Coleman will be responsible for leading the company’s financial management and accounting functions and advising on corporate finance strategies to achieve the next phase of growth.

Most recently, Coleman has been CFO for several technology start-ups, including FuHu, the consumer electronics maker of the Nabi tablet, and LOYAL3 HOLDINGS, Inc., a financial technology company that leverages social technologies to democratize the capital markets. At LOYAL3, Mr. Coleman had direct responsibility for building the finance, accounting, HR, regulatory and general operations departments and played a key role in the company raising $60 million through a total of four primary rounds.

Prior to LOYAL3, Coleman was Chief Financial Officer at Merriman Holdings, Inc. (OTCQX: MERR), from 2008 to 2012, where he executed the financial and operational turnaround of the publicly traded financial services firm. He also served concurrently as Chief Executive Officer of Merriman’s primary subsidiary, Merriman Capital, Inc. From 2004 to 2008, Mr. Coleman was Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of ThinkEquity Partners, LLC, an investment banking firm, where he also served as a member of the firm’s Board of Directors and Global Management Committee. Earlier in his career, he was an equity research analyst covering the application software industry for Charles Schwab and Bank of America. Mr. Coleman has a Business of Administration degree from the University of San Diego.

 AssetAvenue also recently announced that Varun Pathria, previously a Senior VP at Colony Capital, moved over to become Chief Investment Officer.  AssetAvenue targets deals from $250,000 to $20 million per property allowing accredited investors to jump in for as little as $5000.
