Report: UK on Track to Top 2014 for Equity Deals

London UK Taxi FlagUK research firm Beauhurst has published their report on equity investments for the year and according to their data it will be a stellar 2015.

For the first half of 2015 a bit over £2  billion has been invested in 577 equity deals.  In 2014, one of the best years ever, £2.7 billion was invested in fast growing companies.  So 2015 should easily top Beauhurst’s prediction to top £3 billion for the year.

Beauhurst’s numbers indicate that both Seed stage and Growth stage slowed a bit but this was more than made up by Venture stage investments.

The report’s authors state;

“Judging by the first half’s record-breaking results, 2015 looks set to be the best year yet for UK equity investment. With the government also making positive noises, having pledged to treble the number of startup loans, we reckon this will be the year ambitious UK companies can really pick up the pace.”

Of course having a vibrant equity crowdfunding sector and a government that embraces FinTech and policies that boost economic growth certainly does not hurt.
