The Pico is described as a craft beer appliance for the home craft beer enthusiast. It is a compact, fully automatic brewing appliance that brews five-liter mini kegs of fresh craft beer in about two hours. One key to Pico’s ease-of-use is the use of convenient pre-packaged ingredient modules called PicoPaks.
PicoPaks are available from both craft brewers and homebrewers throughout the world on PicoBrew’s online Brew marketplace. More than 50 craft breweries and over 300 homebrewers have signed up to produce PicoPaks and more are being announced each week. Brewing on Pico is noted to be as simple as filling a keg with water, loading the hop and grain modules into the machine, and hitting “Brew.”
Within 9 hours, the project crushed its initial goal and is currently sitting at over $700,000. Dr. Bill Mitchell, CEO of PicoBrew, recently shared some exciting news about Pico’s popularity:
“Now we’re very pleased to announce another 10 brewery partners have joined our PicoPak development program this week including 21st Amendment, MadTree Brewing, and local Bellevue, WA innovator Geaux Brewing,. It’s gratifying to be able to help craft breweries everywhere reach customers worldwide that want to brew their own fresh beers at home. At the same time, it’s great to broaden our selection to Pico customers, so this really is a win-win.”
PicoBrew announced on over the weekend a new Freestyle PicoPak capability for the Pico, which will allow customers to custom-create their own PicoPaks. Mitchell explained:
“We already offer the ability to craft and create custom PicoPaks to brewers using our award-winning Zymatic as a development platform. Now, with Freestyle we allow even non-brewers to try their hand at custom beer.”
New backers of the campaign will receive the Pico right now for the price of $559.
