The company, which was founded by John Quilter, Bodil Blain, and Colin Pyle, stated that its mission is to deliver the “finest” organic coffee from all around the world. Its three key areas are the following:
- Taste: “We aim to source the finest high altitude, speciality bean. We carefully blend together before roasting and grinding them to perfection then immediately sealing the coffee in our capsules to capture their flavor freshness.”
- Ethics:“We buy organic, and that means no nasty chemicals pesticides or aggressive farming practice. The best beans come from the best farms – and all our growers work hard to reinvest in the community and environment around them.”
- Environment: “We are committed to creating an ethically sustainable business, continually working to reduce our footprint on the planet – and that’s why our pods are biodegradable and we are working towards a fully sustainable supply chain.”
The co-founders of the brand launched a Kickstarter for Cru Kafe two years ago and since then have raised £800,000. Pyle revealed to City A.M. that the brand is in need stabilizing its work capital. He stated that was the business’ biggest issue at the moment. The company stated its sales are growing at around 15% a month. Pyle noted that the company still has a lot of room to grow.
Cru Kafe will use the new funds to hire more staff along with invest in marketing and TV advertising.
