As previously reported, Chew hit Seedrs to raise £150,000 to expand its services. The company, which described itself as the Twitch for DJ’s, allows “bedroom DJs” to share their mixes while building and engaging a global fanbase.
In the update, Benton shared:
“We’ve welcomed our users into the business as investors, met some amazing people and grown closer to our advisors, mentors and current investors. But we’re not done. We’ve got another 11 days (or £37,477 to raise) before we reach Deadline Day. As always, there’s still work to be done.
“As we’ve got closer to both the end of our runway and Deadline Day, something exciting has happened. In early January, we were amazed to see that December had been the biggest month we’d had since launching Chew last January. Looking at the same metrics today, we’ve beaten December and set a new record.”
Wil then went on discuss the company’s progress last month:
“January was our biggest month for hours of content created and consumed on Chew. It was also our biggest month ever for chat messages posted, tags used and for our users following other users. Last week, we also celebrated reaching 100 investors and £100,000 committed on the Seedrs crowdfunding campaign. During our celebratory Office Mixup (where we get together as a team and all DJ, live on Chew) on Friday, we broke a few more records.
“As of last week, our users have created more than 10,000 hours of content on Chew since we launched in January 2015. That’s 600,000 minutes, 416 days or 60 weeks of content. If that’s not amazing enough, our audience has watched over 50,000 hours back! That’s nearly 6 years’worth of DJ sets, performances and more watched in the last year!”
He then added:
“We’re delighted to announce that, as of today, our users are creating more than 24 hours a day of content on Chew, every single day. And, on 4 out of 7 days a week, the number of hours of content being created on Chew more than doubles — yep, our users are creating 50+ hours of content in a single day.
“We’ve been on a crazy journey since Ben and I launched Chew on Ignite last year. Crazy in every sense of the word.”
Chew’s crowdfunding campaign is set to close on February 14th.
