Earlier this week, UK’s West Berkshire Brewery launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs a grand total of £1.5 million as it prepares its growth and expansion plans.
West Berkshire Brewery was founded in 1995 and has produced a wide range of bottle, kegged and cask-conditioned beers and lagers that have won over 40 awards, including Champion Strong Beer of Britain. It currently has 19 employs and has continued to experience growth in sales.
The independent brewery noted:
“Our reputation is built on the quality of our product and the service that we offer to our customers. We also have a clear ethos concerning our impact on the environment and we strive to make our business as sustainable as possible; it’s more than just a brewing process, it’s the way we do business as well. With this in mind, the majority of our ingredients are sourced locally, supporting the local economy and caring for the environment. For example, our spent grains are taken by a local farmer as animal feed – recycling at its best!”
Funds from the campaign will be used to construct a brand new brewery, open a pub, and create more craft beers. During a recent interview, chairman of West Berkshire Brewery, David Bruce, stated:
“In the past two years this business has gone ballistic with its expansion: last year sales grew 23%; they are up 19% this year already. So we are motoring. But we remain very ambitious and feel like we’re just getting started, and we have this great opportunity to build on our success and momentum. However, to do that we need to move the brewery to a bigger home and invest in some other landmark initiatives that will help create a much bigger business and fuel our growth. And so we are inviting all like-minded people who wish to share this experience to join us.”
The campaign is set to run for sixty days and offers 17.59% in equity for those who invest. Since its launch, the initiative has raised nearly £760,000.
