PledgeMusic announced this week it has officially finalize its acquisition of music community platform NoiseTrade. The crowdfunding portal revealed it was set to acquire the website earlier this year, along with Set.fm. The newly integrated company will reportedly have a user-base of more than 3 million highly active music superfans directly engaging with the artists they love.
PledgeMusic founder and former CEO Benji Rogers, previously stated:
“In bringing our three companies together under a single roof we are building a unique platform that adaptively supports the full lifecycle of recordings, tours and the constantly-changing forms of artistic output. It is our shared belief that PledgeMusic now offers musicians at all stages of their careers the most robust home to bring their visions to life and reach their commercial objectives. Revaluing music for fans equals revenue for artists and the ecosystem we’ve created makes me more optimistic than ever about the future business of making music.”
NoiseTrade founder and president Derek Webb, commented:
“The PledgeMusic, Set.fm, and NoiseTrade platforms are cut from the same cloth. We are all founded and run by artists and exist to empower musicians and facilitate meaningful connections between creators and their tribes. Aligning our massive combined reach around one vision represents the start of something unprecedented. The fuse has been lit on the reconstruction of the music business.”
As part of the acquisition, Webb will reportedly be PledgeMusic’s new general manager. PledgeMusic’s CEO, Dominic Pandiscia, shared with Music Week:
“The addition of NoiseTrade and Derek Webb to the PledgeMusic family represents a true step-change for the business. Derek’s presence in Nashville provides a direct resource into PledgeMusic and its family of companies for the local music scene. Artists, labels, and management companies alike now have the opportunity to work directly with the founder of the groundbreaking NoiseTrade platform in his newly expanded role representing all things PledgeMusic to the community.”
“The integration of NoiseTrade into PledgeMusic is igniting a real powder keg in Nashville. I’m thrilled to be the boots on the ground as the new GM. We feel there are several real growth opportunities for us here, and as a 15+ year resident, I don’t think there’s ever been a better moment than now to invest into the community of musicians and their teams here in Music City.”
