Tess, a shopping “chatbot” for women, has turned to Seedrs to raise £80,000 for continuous development of its platform. Tess offers users their very own “Tessbot.” The company explained customers simply type in what kind of garment she is currently looking for the Tessbot suggests the appropriate item from a range of online stores.
“Like Google we index retailer websites and analyze each item; the brand, sizes, fabrics and its textual characteristics. By understanding style preferences, sizes, feedback from previous customer requests, recommender system shows to the customer the most appropriate and suitable items.”
Sharing more details about the Tessbot, the company noted the personal stylist is constantly learning and as the more a customer communicates with her, the most she understands the customer better and will off up better recommendations the next time the customer is looking for a new article of clothing.
Since its launch just a few months ago, My Tess has attracted nearly 420 customers. The company revealed:
- 312 customers (74%) purchased more than one item.
- 253 customers (60%) placed an order repeatedly.
- 59 (14%) signed up with the advice from friends and family.
Along with platform development (develop chat-AI for better understanding of request, optimize recommender system), the company stated the funds from the campaign will go towards start advertising campaigns for both customers and stylist, and index the larger about of online retailers to include Boohoo, Lipsy, Missguided, etc.
Since its debut on the equity crowdfunding platform, Tess’ campaign has successfully secured £30,000. It is set to run until the middle of October.
