Filmmakers behind the Kickstarter-funded Bill Nye Documentary, David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg, are set to show exclusive clips of the upcoming film during their Kickstarter Q&A session this evening.
The project surfaced on the crowdfunding portal in 2015 and captured $859,425 from 16,850 backers. Its description reads:
“Bill Nye is on a quest to change the world, and we want you to be part of it! Once the host of a popular kid’s show, Bill is about to take off his Science Guy lab coat and battle the naysayers to create a more scientifically literate and engaged universe. We’re going to make a film about it. A film for science. A film for the cosmos. The full access, exclusive film about Bill Nye.”
The filmmakers also revealed their past history with the science legend:
“We’re documentary filmmakers, but we’re also hardcore Bill Nye fans who spent our middle school years learning about the ecosystem and the color spectrum from his trusty VHS tapes. Bill’s passion and enthusiasm stayed with us, and when we got older, we started making films about science and technology. When we learned that Bill Nye was doing something new, working outside of the classroom to champion science and space exploration and the fight against climate change, we knew we had to make this documentary.
During a recent update, the filmmaking duo stated they will not only share exclusive clips of the documentary, they will be giving the 411 on where they are in the production’s process and will answer any questions fans have. They then noted they will also tell fans how to score some freebee items, which includes a grade prize package that consists of Bill Nye film loot.
They then added:
“B.Y.O.B. (Bring Your Own Bowtie) because rumor on the street is Kickstarter Live has a selfie stream for viewers.”
Tune it at 7 p.m. tonight (Tuesday) to ask the filmmakers questions.
