On Tuesday, cycling apparel brand Lumo launched its second Kickstarter campaign to raise £30,000 for its near clothing with lights line. The company launched its first campaign on the crowdfunding platform in 2014 and captured £74,118 from 458 backers. It then turned to equity funding portal, Crowdcube last year and secured £256,520 from 174 investors.
“LUMO was born here on Kickstarter two years ago. Tired of making a choice between safety and style on a bike, we launched a range of city cycling clothing that looks stylish off a bike, but keeps you visible to traffic on a bike. The successful campaign resulted in us shipping to 32 different countries, generating some incredible media reviews and selling in some of the world’s best cycling stores.”
The new apparel line, which consists of the Clissold Bomber Jacket, Holloway Gilet, and Brixton Messenger bag, is described as the “safest and most stylish” city cycling apparel. It has waterproof LED lights visible over 400 meters away. Lumo explained that after twelve months of working on the new designs, it has come back to Kickstarter to launch its latest range of cycling apparel.
“Inspired by classic British styles, each has been painstakingly designed to provide maximum style, visibility and comfort to city cyclists, featuring in built waterproof LED lights on the front and rear, visible to traffic 400 [meters] away.”
- Clissold Bomber Jacket: £175 (earlybird £125/USD $165)
- Holloway Gilet: £150 (earlybird £99/USD $130)
- Brixton Messenger Bag: £150 (earlybird £99/USD 130)
Estimated delivery for the apparel is currently set for February 2017. The campaign will close on October 13th.
