On Tuesday, gaming giant Atari and audio company ROAM launched a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to raise $50,000 for their new sure-fit earphones, GameON. This news comes just a few months after the companies announced their partnership.
- Sound customization: Users choose between audiophile mode and bass boost mode, depending on their listening preference
- Earphone customization: SureFIT ear tip horns have traditional silicone ear tips, providing up to 27 variations for maximum comfort and performance
- Two-way hybrid transducer: The earphones notably provide high-output, ultra-low distortion transducers, which provide accurate bass, transparent mid-range, and crystal-clear highs
Sharing details about the earphones, Steven Lamar, co-creator of Beats by Dr. Dre and CEO of ROAM, stated:
“This first Atari audio product collaboration is all about creating an extraordinary listening experience that is accessible for everyone. I don’t think most people realize that many of the popular earphones on the market deliver mediocre sound quality, at best. Instead of blowing big budgets on A-list celebrity endorsements, we’re getting back to basics and blowing people’s minds with incredible sound quality. It’s a shake-up the audio industry has needed for a long time. At ROAM, we’re on a mission to make the music matter again.”
Fred Chesnais, CEO of Atari, also commented:
“When I first heard ROAM’s product, I couldn’t believe the incredible sound quality. Audio is such a significant component of the gaming experience, and our goal is to reconnect with an entire generation that has been lost to inferior audio. We are excited to partner with ROAM because of their dedication to the art of sound, and passion for delivering a quality product that will powerfully change the way we listen to music and interact with their mobile games.”
Currently, the GameON earphones are available through Indiegogo for the price of $99. Estimated delivery is scheduled for December 2016. The campaign is set to close at the end of November.
