Rêve En Vert, a global online retailer specializing in sustainable fashion and lifestyle, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube to raise £300,000 as it prepares to expand its online venture. This initiative’s debut comes less than a year after the company sought to raise £600,000 through AngelsDen.
Founded in 2013 by Cora Hilts and Natasha Tucker, Rêve En Vert was described by fashion magazine giant Vogue as a “source for chic, sustainable fashion and beauty gifts.” The company noted that it aims to establish itself as the premier online retailer of Sustainable Style and believes consumers needn’t sacrifice style for ethics. Its roster of designers, eco-activewear, jewelry and beauty brands include Fonnesbech, Mara Hoffman, Teeki, Yoga Democracy, Pamela Love, Bamford and Guy Morgan:
“We believe there is a noticeable gap in the market – consumer demand for ethical and sustainable retail options is growing and we think multi-brand online retailers are yet to take full advantage of this growing trend.”
The company claimed that so far sold to more than 25 countries and has seen growth of 450% in revenue, and 879% in traffic, during the fourth quarter of 2016. Funds from the Crowdcube initiative will go towards expanding the company’s current products and adding menswear, mother & baby and health/wellbeing products along with marketing and PR. While discussing the campaign, Jean Raazi, CFO of Rêve En Vert, stated:
“With this investment, REV sits on the precipice of huge opportunity in 2017. This is a bold claim, but we can see where this business and opportunity are headed… paired with how the rhetoric around sustainability is increasing, REV is poised and in the perfect position for this kind of expansion.”
Since its launch, the campaign has successfully secured nearly £50,000 from close to 50 investors. It is set to close at the end of March.
