Miso Tasty, a Japanese food brand based out of London, has launched an equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The company sought to raise £150,000 and not only did it secured its initial target, it has also surpassed £200,000.
The company, which was launched in 2014 by chef Bonnie Chung, describes itself as a modern brand of Japanese-inspired snacks and meal solutions. It offers a range of what it calls tasty, wholesome products, including miso soups and miso pastes, along with a cookbook. It was revealed:
“Our all-natural products provide a great solution for people hungry for tasty food that is also convenient and nutritious. They feature a key ingredient, miso; an ancient Japanese superfood crafted from fermented soybeans, and this provides the deep, natural flavors and nutrition in our products.”
Miso Tasty also noted its mission is to make tasty and nutritious Japanese food easy for anybody to make themselves. Chung noted:
“Miso has always been one of my favorite ingredients. So that’s where I began – My journey to make the ultimate miso soup! I’ve always wanted to run my own business, coming from a family of entrepreneurs. But my first love was food. I wanted to create tasty products that were inspired by the flavours I loved. What I thought would take me a few months to complete… turned into several years!!! It took over 65 manufacturing trials across the world before we found the right partners in Japan, making over 2 tonnes of miso before we finalized our recipes”
Funds from the campaign will go towards expansion of Miso Tasty. Those who invest in the campaign will receive a lifetime 20% discount to the company’s webshop. The initiative is set to close later this spring.
