Santa Fe Art Collective Meow Wolf Goes Viral on WeFunder, Exceeds $1M in 48 Hours

This past weekend, the Santa Fe art collective Meow Wolf launched a WeFunder investment crowdfunding campaign to offer shares to the general public; within 48 hours  investors snapped up the opportunity in record time, reportedly the fastest known regulation equity investment crowdfund since SEC regulations allowing them were enacted as part of the JOBS Act in 2015.

“Meow Wolf has shattered the regulation investment crowdfunding record by raising more than $1,000,000 in just over 48 hours,” WeFunder Director of Fundraising Dylan Enright. “This is faster than any company before.”

The maximum legally allowed number of general investors—what are termed un-accredited investors—has been reached, leaving room only for accredited investors who rounded out the $1,070,000 funding goal as of this writing. Accredited investors may still invest through Monday, July 24.

“Meow Wolf is a collective and we were committed to democratize this investment opportunity,” said CEO Vince Kadlubek. “We’re enormously humbled and motivated by the faith and support displayed by our guests, employees, friends and digital neighbors this weekend.”

Funding from the effort will help Meow Wolf to build a full-time creative studio headquartered in Santa Fe. “We are actively preparing to expand into multiple major markets and to evolve into one of the leading creative brands in the world,” Kadlubek added. “We’ll have more major announcements in early fall.”

The transmedia arts and entertainment group creates immersive, interactive experiences to transport audiences of all ages into fantastic realms of story and exploration. Meow Wolf opened their first permanent installation, House of Eternal Return, in March of 2016 with support from Game Of Thrones author George R.R. Martin. Since then, over one half million visitors have poured through the doors and showered praise on the uniquely immersive new form of storytelling, art and themed entertainment. The complex is also home to a music venue, bar and outdoor dining scene featuring top food trucks. House of Eternal Return recently won a THEA Award, a Certificate of Excellence from TripAdvisor and The Most Instagrammed Place In New Mexico from Instagram.
