French Spice Rum Brand OKSEN Launches Crowdfunding Round on Seedrs

Famille Oksen, a France-based producer of handmade spiced rum, is now seeking €60,000 through its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs. The company revealed that the Oksen family has been preparing infused rum in their home near Bordeaux since 1973.

“Since 1973 in Cap Ferret, not far from Bordeaux, the family Oksen prepares infused rums in the purest artisanal tradition. After many requests, Franck Oksen, a lively young man in his forties, decides to launch his own production in 2009. His idea is to play with the aromatic range of spices, berries, and fruits through exclusively natural, slow and rigorous macerations in agricultural rum from the Martinique but sublimating all the scents of only one ingredient at a time. True 100% natural pieces of art, this spirits with a 40% proof will surprise as much a demanding nose as an expert palate.”

Products include Gousse de Vanille Entiere, which is a split vanilla; Baton de Cannelle Entire, which is made with entire cinnamon sticks; Banana Entiere, a banana spiced rum; and Orange & Cafe BIO, which was maceration blended. Funds from the campaign will be used to scale-up the company’s production so it can then expand the local market as well as exporting to the UK, other parts of Europe, and North America. Oksen also explained:

“Even with increased production, we intend to hold true to the traditions of handmade spirits meaning quality will never be compromised. Our aim is to have our rums always presented from the Top Shelf, appealing to those who value and appreciate something a bit special and unique.”

The campaign is set to close later this fall.
