Less than a couple of weeks after launching its equity crowdfunding campaign on Seedrs, light switch and plug socket brand, Den, has successfully secured more than £1.1 million thanks to more than 625 investors. As previously reported, Den was founded in 2013 and describes itself as a new technology startup that is looking to transform the way people use light switches and plug sockets around the world by providing “safety, energy saving, security, and convenience. The company previously secured more than £1 million in seed funding.
“Light switches and plug sockets have been around for over 100 years and have hardly changed since. They are extremely dated. Although some wireless light switches and plug sockets do already exist, we’ve found they are all really complicated products that no one really understands how to use. Many of these have replaced the familiar rocker-switch with high-tech touch pads and buttons, making them complicated, unfamiliar and essentially not mass-market. At Den, we’re reinventing the light switch and plug socket, and we aim to wipe out the existing standard of switches around the world.”
The company also revealed it is building products that it believes are far more intelligent than other wireless switches available. While the products still look and work in the exact same way an ordinary switch would, its products provide various benefits including energy saving, convenience, security, and safety. Last week, Den announced that its patent was granted in Australia this month. Its patent is now granted in the EU, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. It is currently still pending in the USA, China, Japan, Canada, India, Korea and Hong Kong.
All funds from the campaign will be used for growth and development of Den’s products. It is set to close later this week.
