Scottish brewery BrewDog announced earlier this week it is extending its latest Equity for Punks funding round to January 22, 2019. The campaign, which was originally set to close this October, originally sought to raise £10 million and has so far raised more than £19 million. The company announced in an update:
“Equity for Punks puts you, the people who drink our beer, at the center of everything we do and this past weekend we welcomed thousands of you to our Columbus brewhouse for the third annual Punk AGM USA! Alongside the great craft beer, street food and music our co-founders James and Martin dialled in a series of epic updates and plans for BrewDog – including this piece of news. Equity for Punks USA is being extended for another 150 days.”
Founded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie, BrewDog now has more than 30 bars in the UK as well as 16 international bars, and its brewery in Columbus, Ohio, which opened in 2017. The company recently announced the launch of its new bar in Seoul, South Korea and recently opened the doors of its highly anticipated craft beer hotel, The DogHouse. Upon speaking about the campaign’s extension, the BrewDog team stated that extending Equity for Punks USA until January 2019 gives them a chance to look at new ways in which the brewery’s fans may invest and have others join their community.
“Next month we are going to launch Equity for Punks USA gifted shares – meaning throughout the Fall and into the Holidays you can give the gift of craft beer ownership to that beer lover in your life! Stay tuned for more details! Equity for Punks USA is a new future, and a new way of doing business.”
BrewDog then added that it is owned by more than 80,000 people who are wanting to “change the world of craft beer, forever.” The brewery’s Equity For Punks campaigns has all together raised more than £60 million through the previous rounds since 2009.
