The Clubs DiR gym chain has closed a funding round of €550,000 via Crowdcube. The funding will provide needed capital to finance its twenty-fourth club, BDiR Calvet, which is expected to open its doors in 2019. Crowdcube reports that, in total, 142 people invested with an average investment € 3,875. The funding round closed in two different sections with one of €440,000 in 2018, and the balance this month of February. This is the 6th funding round completed via Crowdcube for the small business.
At the end of 2016, DiR closed a financing round of €450,000 to finance its twentieth club, BDiR Mallorca (with an additional 100,000 euros extension in July 2018); in 2017, it obtained another €385,000 and €485,000 euros, for BDiR Granados and BDiR Alcudia. Last June, it closed a round of € 555,000 for BDiR Lesseps.
This is an interesting strategy for a company to raise growth capital. Leveraging an existing relationship with both subscribers and followers, DiR allows supporters to become co-investors thus aligning interests to the company’s success.
As on previous occasions, DiR launched the investment round of BDiR Calvet to give the opportunity to its subscribers and followers to be part of its 24th club and become co-investors of the new center, combining its own capital and contributions from its partners. Finally, the round has been closed in two sections, one of 440,000 signed in 2018, and the rest, this month of February, adding a total of 550,000 euros.
Currently, DiR Clubs has 23 own centers, 22 in Barcelona and 1 in Sant Cugat. It also has 20 Yoga One and DiR franchises, and has a thousand workers.
