Tribe Payments Receives Mastercard Certification

Payments platform Tribe Payments announced on Wednesday it received certification from Mastercard as an issuer and acquirer processor across Europe. According to Tribe, the certification means that the platform’s customers, which are banks, challengers, and fintechs that offer payment services to merchants and consumers, may now issue Mastercard cards and acquire Mastercard payments. These payment service providers can now benefit from access to a payments network used by millions of consumers and merchants in over 210 countries around the world.

While sharing more details about the certification, Edoardo Volta, Vice President, Head of Fintech at Mastercard UK, stated:

“Mastercard has for some time been the go to partner for new digital players, helping them to set up and expand while offering access to our global payments network. We are delighted to be working with Tribe as the payments landscape evolves, ensuring digital interactions are seamless, secure and convenient for all in our societies.”

Suresh Vaghjiani, CEO of Tribe Payments, added:

“Mastercard has a long history of working with fintechs to push the boundaries of payments. Through tailored support services including access to insight, tools, technology and investment it has fostered partnerships with pioneers who have grown into global brands. With the unrivalled flexibility of Tribe’s modular platform and Mastercard’s global footprint, issuers and acquirers no longer have to compromise between speed and scale.”

Founded in 2018, Tribe describes itself as a payment technology company that provides end to end services in payment space. The company claims to be the first certified cad payments in Europe that offer Visa, Mastercard, and Union Pay.

We are a payments business that thinks differently. Our customers don’t need to know how the complex world of payments works, because we do. Good people create great businesses. We’re a family of remarkable people who listen, think and collaborate to imagine and build new solutions that will empower the payments community.”
