SEC Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee Schedules Meeting to Further Discuss Regulatory Harmonization

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Small Business Capital Formation Advisory Committee has scheduled an additional meeting to discuss regulatory harmonization along the lines the Commission’s Concept Release published earlier this year. The SEC officially closed comments on its Concept Release in September but feedback has continued to trickle in. Last month, the Committee spent an entire day discussing much of the items under review.

Some of the important topics have included an update to the definition of an accredited investor as well as simplifying the exempt offering ecosystem that is currently peppered with various acronyms and arcane rules.

This forthcoming meeting is described as the Committee “continu[ing] to engage in discussion regarding topics discussed in the Commission’s Harmonization Concept Release, which requested comment on the current framework for exempt offerings, and develop potential recommendations.”

It is not entirely clear why an additional meeting is needed but as with all of the Committee’s meetings, the public may listen to the discussion.

The telephonic meeting will begin at 11 a.m. ET on December 11th.  Members of the public may listen to the telephonic meeting live on SEC.gov and the audiocast will be archived on the committee’s webpage for later viewing.
