Tokenization: Smartlands Crowdfunds on Seedrs. Seeks £400,000

A digital asset platform that tokenizes various investment offerings is crowdfunding on Seedrs. Smartlands, the first platform to tokenize a real estate offering in the UK, is looking to raise £400,003 at a pre-money valuation of £15.4 million representing a 2.53% stake in the firm.

Smartlands recently was recognized as the “Best Crowdfunding Platform” at the 2020 Fintech Breakthrough awards. It was the first blockchain-based FCA regulated tokenization platform in the UK. Smartlands claims today a community that numbers 16,000, 11,500 wallets, and over 30 identified projects. It was previously reported that Smartlands worked two years to build out its platform.

Smartlands explains that in anticipation of the enactment of the Liechtenstein Blockchain Act in January 2020, Smartlands decided to cancel its UK FCA license in 2019 and has initiated the process of obtaining the necessary permissions in Liechtenstein as they believe this new legislation will reduce the uncertainty associated with Brexit.

Currently, the securities offering is in “private mode” with early investors receiving a Smartlands powered “Smartee co-owner payment card” described as a digital banking-like service.

Ilia Obraztsov, CEO at Smartlands, said his company has already delivered a tokenized property offering under UK regulation using its “state of the art” technology for raising capital and issuing digital shares.

“Now we are extremely excited to be launching our first funding round with Seedrs to fuel our further growth. Priority access will be given to our community members, individuals and organizations, who have been long wondering about investing in Smartlands”.

Smartlands said it will use and money raised for expanding its internal engineering team, funding a freemium model for customers in 2020, and obtaining the rest of the necessary licenses to move forward.
