Delivery Hero, a MENA Region Online Delivery Service, Partners Mastercard to Digitize Entire Payments Process

Delivery Hero, a Berlin-based online delivery platform operating in the Middle East, has teamed up with Mastercard in order to digitize its entire payment process across all its products offered to MENA region customers.

Delivery Hero app users will have the option to pay for delivered products with a contactless solution. They’ll also be able to pay for orders by using their digital wallets, which allows customers to make secure online payments.

Amnah Ajmal, Executive VP for Market Development, MEA, Mastercard.stated:

“Our strategic partnership is a remarkable milestone, as we collaborate to transform numerous pillars of their ecosystem into digital.”

Through the partnership, the companies will also introduce a virtual payment card solution, which will allow more than 650,000 delivery riders in the region to instantly access their earnings via their mobile devices. The riders will have the option to pay for everyday products and services at physical stores and also online. They’ll get access to various financial services and receive special lifestyle discounts as well.

Delivery Hero reportedly has more than 100,000 restaurant partners in the MENA region. The company will now be able to quickly and securely handle payments for orders. The restaurants can also make supplier purchases, pay workers’ salaries and send other types of payments.

The COVID-19 outbreak has accelerated the shift to all-digital platforms and services. Digital payments are increasingly being adopted in the MENA region, and globally. The number of orders placed online in the region grew by more than 40%.
