Well, it appears that White Castle likes the robotic burger flipper enough it is expanding its service into ten new locations.
According to a note from Miso Robotics, the popular fast food change is adding the first autonomous grilling and frying kitchen assistant, to the new locations following completion of their current pilot in a win for AI and robotics.
White Castle is expected to implement the new commercially available version of Flippy Robot-on-a-Rail (ROAR) into commercial kitchens to enhance production speeds, while maintaining consistent quality and taste.
Timing may have helped in all of this as Flippy was first deployed in a White Castle location in July of 2020 – prime COVID. As businesses sought to establish effective protocols, Flippy is not exactly a vector for transmission.
“Artificial intelligence and automation have been an area White Castle has wanted to experiment with to optimize our operations and provide a better work environment for our team members,” said Lisa Ingram, CEO of White Castle. “We believe technology like Flippy ROAR can improve customer service and kitchen operation. This pilot is putting us on that path – and we couldn’t be more pleased to continue our work with Miso Robotics and pave the way for greater adoption of cutting-edge technology in the fast-food industry.”
Buck Jordan, President and Chairman of Miso Robotics, said their platform has become increasingly powerful and intelligent and they look forward to accelerating their results and delivering even greater value across White Castle locations.
You may recall that Flippy/Miso Robotics is in the process of raising growth capital on SeedInvest. The Series C funding round has raised over $9 million leveraging the Reg A+ securities exemption so far. The offering is still live pitching preferred equity at a pre-money valuation of $80 million.
