While the Americans and Chinese have more collective wealth, it is the Swiss who are the richest per capita, new numbers from BuyShares.co.uk show.
The Swiss have average per capita wealth of $674,000, which is 33 per cent more than the USA or Hong Kong. The USA’s per capita wealth average is $505,420 whilst Hong Kong’s is $503,340. Australia and the Netherlands round out the top five.
Median wealth tells another story. That figure represents the wealth of the person who shares their country with an equal number of richer and poorer people. While America boasts 39 per cent of the world’s millionaires, and their collective worth has risen $1.2 trillion since the pandemic’s onset, the USA doesn’t crack the top 20 for media wealth. Australia is tops with $238,000, with Belgium, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Denmark completing the top 5.
