OurCrowd has been recognized as the leading VC investor in Israel for the 9th year in a row.
OurCrowd is a global investment crowdfunding platform matching investors with promising private deals around the world. Israel is one of the hottest startup markets anywhere and OurCrowd provides a streamlined path for smaller investors to benefit from this robust market.
OurCrowd topping the list of VCs in Israel was posted by Pitchbook, a leading data, and analytics firm covering private markets globally.
OurCrowd founder and CEO Jon Medved issued the following statement on the news:
“We are proud to be leading the hightech industry in Israel, which is now firing on all cylinders. The performance of the Startup Nation has never been better. Israel is already home to more than 70 billion-dollar unicorns – about 10 percent of the global total – with dozens of IPOs, SPACs and mergers and acquisitions. Israel’s ability to create new breakthroughs in a broad range of disciplines such as medicine, agriculture, mobility and transportation, food technology, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, drones, the cloud, cleantech, semiconductors – just to name a few – will continue to drive investment and success in Israel’s remarkable tech ecosystem. OurCrowd looks forward to bringing thousands of new accredited investors to participate in these deals and help entrepreneurs improve our world.”
Trailing OurCrowd on the list were well-known traditional VCs including TLV Partners, Vertex Ventures, Bessemer Venture Partners and Pitango Venture.
Even in the midst of the COVID health crisis, venture activity in Israel has boomed.
Pitchbook states that a record amount of venture funding was committed to Israeli early-stage firms. In fact, during the first 9 months of 2021 almost $7.5 billion was invested in Israeli firms a whopping increase of 49% versus the full year of 2020.
PitchBook reports that much of this growth has come via later stage rounds, with over two-thirds of all capital invested going to more mature startups.
OurCrowd’s investment offerings are sector agnostic but heavy on tech – including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Medtech, Agtech, Cybersecurity, Mobility, and more.
While OurCrowd caters to individual (accredited) investors it also boasts a growing number of family offices and other institutional entities participating on the platform. Overall, OurCrowd reports $1.8 billion in committed funds with more than 280 portfolio companies and 30 different venture funds. Over 40 OurCrowd funded companies have created an exit opportunity for backers.
OurCrowd is also host to the largest investment event of its kind attended by thousands of investors, issuers, and thought leaders. Following a COVID pause, OurCrowd will return in May 2022 with an outdoor, in-person event, in Jerusalem.
