Re:start Financial, a neobank that focuses on social impact, has partnered with a Ukrainian non-profit to provide donations “with every swipe” of their card.
As the world knows. Russia invaded Ukraine in an unprovoked attack earlier this year which has devastated the country. Support from both governmental and private entities and individuals have flowed into the country to support the beleaguered nation as it battles the authoritarian Putin regime.
Re:start has established a corporate donor-advised fund to make grants to charities serving Ukrainian relief efforts.
Polina Shabarova, Re:start’s community manager, commented:
“We have several Ukrainian staff in our bank, and we immediately looked for ways to support humanitarian relief efforts when the war started. We have launched a giving campaign where every time our bank customers swipe their debit card, Re:start donates 100% of its net income for the rest of 2022.”
Re:start says it has identified several charities to support, including the Liberty Ukraine Foundation, a charity whose focus is on providing life-saving supplies and helping children overcome war trauma. the Re:start team has also been creating resources to help Ukrainian refugees adjust to life in the United States, such as offering free English-as-a-Second-Language lessons.
Re:start also now helps refugees to open free bank accounts using their native Ukrainian language.
