Philip Moustakis Made Partner at Seward & Kissel

Philip Moustakis, has been made a Partner at the global law firm of Seward & Kissel. Moustakis was previously counsel practicing in the firm’s Government Enforcement & Internal Investigations Group and Blockchain & Cryptocurrency Group. He joined the firm in 2019 and is a regular legal commentator for CI.

Moustakis previously worked for more than a decade at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in the Enforcement Division and was a founding member of the SEC’s Cyber Unit. Before his work at the SEC, Moustakis served as an assistant attorney general in the Investor Protection Bureau of the New York Attorney General’s Office. He currently represents clients in SEC investigations; provides proactive advice and counseling to clients on regulatory and compliance risks and challenges; supports clients through SEC examinations; and directs internal investigations for them. Moustakis has also handled matters involving digital asset offerings, as well as nonfungible tokens (NFTs), crypto trading platforms, compliance and supervisory failures, and whistleblowers.

Moustakis received a B.A. in philosophy, cum laude, from Purchase College and a J.D. from New York University School of Law.
