The Chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, Patrick McHenry, has announced another hearing on stablecoins. Scheduled by the Subcommittee on Digital Assets, Financial Technology, and Inclusion, the hearing is entitled: “Putting the ‘Stable’ in ‘Stablecoins:’ How Legislation Will Help Stablecoins Achieve Their Promise.”
The Committee has held hearings on stablecoins in the past, and industry chatter anticipates a bi-partisan bill to soon emerge from the Committee, which has a solid shot of being approved by the House.
At a hearing last month, the same subcommittee distributed draft legislation for the stablecoin market.
While the individual witnesses have yet to be announced, they should be revealed in the coming days.
The hearing will take place on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 9 AM ET. The hearing will be live-streamed on the Committee’s website.
