SBE Council Welcomes Defeat of FTCs Attempt to Block Microsoft’s Acquisition of Activision

The Small Business and Entrepreneurship Council (SBE Council) has issued a statement on the court’s decision to rule against the Federal Trade Commission’s (FTC) attempt to block the merger of Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision-Blizzard. In brief, the Judge, Jacqueline Scott Corley, found that the FTC failed to show the acquisition would hamper competition.

SBE Council president & CEO Karen Kerrigan issued the following statement.

“Rather than applying the facts, common sense and logic when it comes to mergers and acquisitions that make sense for startups and consumers, FTC Chair Lina Khan sees nefarious intent and bizarre outcomes as she stares into her ideological crystal ball. It should be obvious by now that Chair Khan’s partisan agenda is not only extreme, but extremely damaging to U.S. innovative and tech leadership, which is driven by the risk-taking and creativity of entrepreneurs.”

The SBE Council has been critical of the FTC under the leadership of Lina Khan as pushing “the boundaries of common sense through its partisan, wasteful and ideological actions, thereby harming the productivity and vibrancy of the U.S startup and merger and acquisition ecosystems in the process.”
