Painterland Sisters, a startup founded by female entrepreneurs, has topped $500,000 in a securities offer on Wefunder.
According to the offering page, Painterland has raised almost $520,000 to date from more than 250 investors. The securities being sold to investors is a SAFE with a valuation cap of $15 million. A SAFE is frequently used for startups as it gives investors the ability to purchase equity at a future date typically at a discount.
Co-founded by Stephanie and Hayley Painter, Painterland Sisters is a new entry into the hot organic yogurt space. The sisters are leveraging their family’s 4th generation Pennsylvania organic dairy farm, Painterland Farms, to create the brand.
The founders have created a lactose-free skyr yogurt brand. Skyr is a relatively new type of yogurt that emerged in Iceland as a traditional dairy product. Skyr is known for its thick and creamy consistency that has a heightened amount of protein (up to 21 grams per serving).
Painterland has generated approximately $1.3 million in sales in its first 12 months and says it is on track to generate $3.5 million in sales in 2023.
The Painterland yogurt is in almost 2,000 locations in the US (49 states) and is said to be the fastest-growing yogurt brand in terms of unit and dollar percentage year over year in the natural channel. Stephanie Painter recently shared that in the last two months, they have more than doubled their sales. The sisters are raising the money now to accelerate growth and possibly allow investors to benefit from the company’s success.
