ClearBank Selects Jonny Fry to Lead Digital Asset Innovation

Jonny Fry has been selected to lead ClearBank‘s digital asset strategy, according to the digital bank. ClearBank is a fully licensed bank that also offers its tech stack to other financial services firms.

Fry was previously CEO of TeamBlockchain and publisher of Digital Bytes. The bank says the hire is indicative of their commitment to digital assets. He is also Chairman at GemCap Ltd., the majority owner of a fund administration company regulated by the Central Bank of Ireland. Fry is also a non-executive director of TURN, a blockchain-powered reporting platform for the asset management industry. At one point, Fry was CEO of Premier Asset Management Plc which became a publicly traded company.

Fry said he was happy to be working with ClearBank, setting the strategy for digital assets as demand for digital securities and other assets continues to grow.

“There are huge opportunities for forward-looking banks to provide the infrastructure to enhance fiat offerings and boost digital payment solutions.”

Charles McManus, Group CEO at ClearBank, said Fry’s hire will be pivotal in helping them navigate the fast moving area of Fintech.

“Over the last year we’ve witnessed a flight to quality in the digital assets space. That is digital asset companies not only want the best technology and the best services, but a banking partner that can ensure they operate at the highest regulatory standards.”
