Recently, CI received a note from DealMaker indicating that several of their issuers have been recognized by Time magazine as the Best Inventions of 2023.
DealMaker is a tech-enabled broker-dealer helping firms to raise capital online utilizing various securities exemptions.
This is certainly not the first time that a company that pursued an online funding round has been recognized for innovation or promising technology and it will not be the last. Today, with the advent of online capital formation, early-stage private firms can raise money online from both accredited and non-accredited investors – meaning retail investors have the opportunity to participate in private capital markets – something that was largely not true until the JOBS Act of 2012.
So who are these two firms?
Ryse Aero Technologies is pursuing an ultra-light aerial aircraft jumping into the hot personal air transportation market. According to a quote by Mick Kowitz, CEO of Ryse Aero Technologies, “I could teach you to fly it in 15 minutes.” Sounds pretty cool.
Ryse is currently raising money in partnership with DealMaker. The company reports approximately 260 pre-orders for the RECON aircraft, representing potentially $39M in revenue.
Ryse is seeking up to $5 million in a Reg CF offering. The offering memorandum is viewable here.
The other issuer is Naqi Earbuds, a company that returns some mobility for quadriplegics.
To quote Time:
“Electrical signals made by clenching your jaw or lifting an eyebrow turn into commands; wearers hear a voice to help navigate the invisible user interface. The still-in-development device could be used to control wheelchairs or smart-home items.”
A gaming option is said to be in the works as well.
According to Naqi’s Offering Circular, the company is seeking to raise up to $10 million in a Reg A+ offering.
DealMaker adds there is another issuer on the list that is preparing to commence a securities offering that is not yet public.
Both the above offerings are available to non-accredited investors. Please note that all investments hold risk, and early-stage investments tend to be some of the riskiest.
