Skor Technologies, the Indonesian parent company of credit-education platform Skorlife and the Skorcard digital-first credit card, has raised $6.2 million in a pre Series-A funding round led by Southeast Asia-focused Argor Capital.
The round also saw participation from existing backers QED Investors and Saison Capital, as well as new investor Digital Currency Group, bringing the fintech firm’s total funding to over $12 million, according to an announcement.
The latest funding builds on Skor’s $4 million seed round closed in May 2023, which was led by Hummingbird Ventures with support from Bolt by QED, AC Ventures, and Saison Capital.
Since launching Skorcard in March 2024 in partnership with Bank Mayapada International, the company has focused on establishing card operations, testing demand, and expanding its digital-first offering to meet growing consumer needs.
Indonesia’s credit card market remains significantly underpenetrated, with credit card ownership below 3%, compared to 8% in Thailand and 20% in Malaysia.
This gap, coupled with low financial literacy rates—below 50% according to a 2022 survey by Indonesia’s Financial Services Authority (OJK)—creates a unique opportunity for fintech players.
However, challenges such as regulatory hurdles and competition from banks and other fintech firms persist.
Skorcard differentiates itself through gamification and a data-driven approach, engaging users via a purpose-built mobile app.
The platform surpassed $10 million in annualized spending volume within its first year of operations, while Skorlife reached over two million downloads.
The funds will be deployed to scale Skorcard, strengthen the team, and achieve the company’s target of issuing two million cards and processing $100 million in transactions by 2025.
The fintech firm has also bolstered its leadership with key hires, including professionals with deep expertise in fintech, risk management, and data analytics.
Skor Technologies continues to focus on transforming Indonesia’s consumer credit market with innovative and accessible solutions tailored to local needs.
