As reported in GigaOM, eponymous crowdfunding platform suffered a temporary payment outage on Thursday when Amazon suffered a payment glitch. As GigaOm reported it was unclear if this was an isolated, or wide spread issue.
Amazon Payments, which powers the payments for crowd-funding platform Kickstarter in the U.S., is having problems Thursday morning that are affecting some supporters’ ability to back projects. Funders who try to complete a pledge are met with a message that an error occurred while trying to process the payment.
While temporary, there were messages hitting the twittersphere regarding payments – especially to offerings ending shortly.
This may be the first outage but certainly not the last as these things will happen. It will be interesting to see if Kickstarter alters their policies to accommodate situations like this. Perhaps a “delay of funding” extension.
