How director Bill Ross overcame doubts about Kickstarter and saved his film ‘Tchoupitoulas’

Documentarian Bill Ross didn’t set out to become a poster boy for Kickstarter. In fact, he was initially against using the crowdfunding model to finish his latest film. But he and his brother Turner had run into legal issues on the soundtrack for their last project, and they were determined to do it right this time.

The truth is, “Tchoupitoulas” would never have seen the light of a projector without Kickstarter—an exciting and increasingly important fundraising tool for do-it-yourself independent filmmakers.
