Indiegogo has just added a fifth million-dollar crowdfunding campaign to it’s roughly five year history: the KREYOS smartwatch.
We first reported on the KREYOS back in June. I found myself impressed by the featureset the developers of the KREYOS aimed to integrate into their crowdfunded smartwatch…
According to the Indiegogo campaign page, the KREYOS integrates a microphone and a three-axis gyroscope to allow the wearer to operate smartphone functions via voice command or hand gesture. The unit is programmable, so the user can make up their own gestures for different smartphone functions. Four gesture functions will come preconfigured on the KREYOS but the team says that more will be added in time. There is also a software developer kit available, and the KREYOS team says they are currently working with developers to extend the functionality of the device.
Windows 8 and Android smartphone owners should also be enticed to back the campaign; the watch is said to support their devices, and in a world where iOS users seem to get everything first that may have been a big draw.
The KREYOS team makes no secret of who they’re hoping to beat in this incresingly crowded smartwatch market. The following infographic compares the KREYOS to the Pebble watch.
Sleep tracking was the stretch goal associated with the $1 million mark, a feature the KREYOS team says is “one of the most important functions that needs to included for the Kreyos Meteor to really be complete.” Two previous stretch goals already reached mean deep gamification will be core to the watch through a partnership with Badgeville. Backers were also promised two free screen protectors with delivery.
With 10 days left in the campaign the KREYOS has a shot at taking the top spot from Scanadu for the most funded Indiegogo campaign ever. We’ll be watching to see what happens next.
