Angels Den equity crowdfunding platform quickly raised the funding goal for start up Bag Rider on their growing platform. Bag Rider is a cabin bag (roll on) for airplanes which transforms into a secure travel seat for small children (6 months to 4 years). Born of need when the creators had their first daughter, they recognized the struggles of moving through airports with a young one in tow.
Eight funders came together to raise £30,000 for the company with the offer being able to take advantage SEIS tax relief. The equity crowdfunding round apparently has 54 days left on the campaign. No word if the company is going to increase the offer.
With an estimated 1.5 to 2 Million passengers flying through UK airports in 2012 who included at least one infant the company has their target market lined up. Air travel these days is stressful, tedious affair. Add the challenges of managing children and anything created to improve the experience of air travel will only be embraced.
The Bag Rider team is a husband wife company. Tom and Tamar Clarke met while Tom was a Captain flying for a major airline. Tamar was recently quoted in Business Matters about crowdfunding on AngelsDen stating,
“It’s been amazing. Crowdfunding was our first choice for our first round of fundraising – it gets BAGRIDER out there and we get like-minded investors on board.
“We had our eyes opened to crowdfunding by the Angels Den team, and it just fitted perfectly with an early stage business that wants to get noticed.”
Angels Den fairly recently entered the crowdfunding space launching their platform this past October. They have positioned their platform as an integrated Angel and crowdfunding portal. Angels Den, founded by Bill Morrow and Lois Cook, has been funding businesses in the United Kingdom since 2007. They claim an Angel network of over 6000 investors.
