We recently reported on the Kano project on Kickstarter. Just a couple of weeks ago the campaign was celebrating a huge milestone after crossing $1 million in funding.
Quartz recently tipped the world to the fact that even the famed Steve Wozniak has chipped into the campaign. So has future Kickstarter CEO Yancey Strickler. Total backers? Over 12,300 and climbing.
With 28 hours left in the campaign, Kano will basically cross $1.4 million as I am writing this article. This puts the campaign in some rarefied air.
The functionality here is awesome and it should appeal to kids that find tech interesting and want to learn the programming ropes. The Kano team have created a Scratch-like language for interacting with games like Minecraft. The language makes it easy for kids to write their own programs on the computer they just built.
So where will it rank on Kickstarter’s all-time Design list? Let’s take a look at the record holders…
I suppose Pebble’s amazing $10,000,000+ raise is safe. However, it seems almost certain that the Elevation Dock will be bumped to #4. Kano also has a serious shot at overtaking the Emotiv Insight for #2 on the list if they can keep a torrid pace in the final day.
