Last night during E! News, the movie trailer for Veronica Mars was shown for the first time. The movie is slated to begin appearing in theaters across the United States on March 14th, 2014.
There’s something about that big WB that appears in the first ten seconds of the trailer that makes you realize just how important this film is to the crowdfunding narrative, Kickstarter and the future of crowdfunded movies. Veronica Mars is a case study in how to leverage crowdfunding to test the market ahead of shooting a major film.
If this film is a rousing success, it could be a catalyst for increased participation in the crowdfunding space among major movie production companies. It could cause a crowdfunded film boon the likes of which we can only imagine at this point.
If it’s a flop, we’ll spend the rest of 2014 talking about it.
Either way, Veronica Mars is a big deal. We’ll be watching this closely…
