As most everyone knows by now, the Coolest Cooler crowdfunding campaign now reigns as the most funded project on Kickstarter ever at $13.3 million. An incredible amount of backers came together to overthrow the mighty Pebble Smartwatch from the crowdfunding throne. And who would have thought that a new approach on the common cooler would have the momentum to achieve such a task? A crowdfunding re-do that struggle to hit 6 figures in the first go – now closes millions above the next nearest campaign. It is pretty incredible stuff and now Kickstarter has lifted the veil back a bit to share some of the data points for this epic crowdfunding campaign.
Coolest Cooler ran a longer campaign than both Pebble and Ouya. These are the two projects Kickstarter has compared above. They have normalized the graph to show funding trajectory. Pebble capped their campaign towards the end so that has skewed data a bit but both Ouya and Coolest rocketed at the end as backers rushed in the final days of the campaign.
The top states that backed Coolest are indicated in the map above. Kickstarter notes that Texas was huge as one in every 4,629 Texans supported the project. No mention of creator Ryan Grepper’s home state of Oregon.

Interestingly the Coolest Cooler was more of a domestic success with only 11% coming from international backers.
