Investment platform AngelsDen has experienced a significant leap in business funding for 2014. According to the crowdfunding company, 45 businesses raised over £5.5 million for the year – up 66% over year prior. In 2013 the site stated it had raised £ 3.5 million for 36 different funding rounds. Since AngelsDen was started the platform has raised over £18 million with the support of 7000 plus investors.
Another interesting fact provided by AngelsDen is that 94% of their funded deals are still in business – a pretty incredible number. A diversified portfolio in small companies has the potential to be lucrative. The UK incentivizes investments in startups with programs such as the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) which mitigates a portion of the risk.
AngelsDen, co-founded by Bill Morrow and Lois Cook, has been in business since 2007. Their hybrid approach has paired a successful angel network with an online equity crowdfunding platform delivering options of both worlds. The company currently offers various ways for an individual to participate via equity, debt, rewards and a number of regularly scheduled investing events.
Companies raising capital on AngelsDen span the spectrum from very small capital raising rounds to those significantly larger.
