AngelsDen Claims £5.5 Million in Funding for 2014

AngelsDen Deals 2014Investment platform AngelsDen has experienced a significant leap in business funding for 2014.  According to the crowdfunding company, 45 businesses raised over £5.5 million for the year – up 66% over year prior. In 2013 the site stated it had raised £ 3.5 million for 36 different funding rounds.  Since AngelsDen was started the platform has raised over £18 million with the support of 7000 plus investors.

Another interesting fact provided by AngelsDen is that 94% of their funded deals are still in business – a pretty incredible number.  A diversified portfolio in small companies has the potential to be lucrative.  The UK incentivizes investments in startups with programs such as the Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) which mitigates a portion of the risk.

Bill MorrowAngelsDen, co-founded by Bill Morrow and Lois Cook, has been in business since 2007.  Their hybrid approach has paired a successful angel network with an online equity crowdfunding platform delivering options of both worlds.  The company currently offers various ways for an individual to participate via equity, debt, rewards and a number of regularly scheduled investing events.

Companies raising capital on AngelsDen span the spectrum from very small capital raising rounds to those significantly larger.  Last month actress Sadie Frost announced she was seeking investors for her three year old production company called Blonde to Black Pictures.  Frost was quoted in RealBusiness on the move to use AngelsDen;

“The team at Angels offered us a great opportunity to bring the next wave of angels-den-logodevelopment funds into the company, it seemed very much a part of our ethos to get potential like-minded film fans and enthusiasts that spot a great investment opportunity, as part of the team.”
