Books on Clothing: Litographs Launches Kickstarter Initiative For New Scarves & T-shirts

Litographs 4

Last week, Litographs hit crowdfunding giant Kickstarter to raise funds for its scarves and t-shirt collections. The company offers up clothing and accessories that are created entirely from the text of books.

Litographs 2While sharing details about its products, Lithographs revealed that it was started in 2011 when it launched its first collection literary t-shirts. Since then, it has expanded its collections to t-shirts, posters and totes that feature the work of nearly 200 classic and contemporary authors. The company previously launched a Kickstarter so that it could create “the world’s longest literary tattoo chain.”

The company stated:

“To celebrate the launch of our scarves, for the first time ever, we’re producing entirely custom Litographs, exclusive to Kickstarter. We’ve always wanted to print your words, and now each and every backer will be able to wear their own unique text. Whether you would love to see your own writing in print (maybe you have a short story or write poetry), wear the words of a loved one or friend (perhaps your other half writes song lyrics), or pick any other piece of text in the public domain (a classic novel from before 1923, a famous historical speech, or even the first 40,000 digits of pi) – we will handcraft you a truly one-of-a-kind scarf or t-shirt. You can even customize the color, style and size of your text.”

Litograph 1Here’s how it works

  • Backers will be able to choose which product they wish to have (either scarf or t-shirt) starting at $30 (custom is $40).
  • Following the closing of the campaign, backers will be able to choose their text, which can be either one of the nearly 200 classic and contemporary books or a custom piece.
  • Backers will then get to customize their Litograph product by choosing the font style (Baskerville, Helvetica, Courier, Snell Roundhand) and the font size.
  • Backers will select the font color.

Backers will receive their products by August 2016. Since its campaign’s launch, the project has already raised nearly $50,000. It is set to close at the beginning of May.
