Dubuc Motors Says Tomahawk Electric Car Goes Into Production in 2018

Dubuc Motors said it would be starting production of its Tomahawk electric car in 2018. Dubuc said the Tomahawk “will be produced in the thousands of units appropriately intended for a niche market within the luxury segment.” Dubuc intends to unveil the production model at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2018.

Dubuc is currently raising capital on StartEngine under Reg A+. The crowdfunding offer, which is open to both accredited and non-accredited investors, is hoping to raise up to $20 million. We visited with Dubuc back in January when the offer was said to have topped $5 million in investor commitments.

Alongside announcing a commitment to release a production vehicle in 2018, Dubuc also provided an update on the specs for the Tomahawk which are pretty impressive:

  • 0-60 mph in 2 seconds
  • 800 horsepower
  • 370 mile range
  • 1.2 G-force in cornering

Mike Kakoganiannakis says they are combining super-car, Tesla-killing performance with all the convenience necessary for daily commuting – in a 2+2 car.

“We are pushing the envelope in terms of what is possible in the automotive industry to create a wow experience for our customers every time they get behind the wheel. The four motors supplying demented acceleration are independently coupled to each wheel for a balanced traction that can be used in either race or street mode depending on the senses evoked, promising an appealing alternative for bachelors and modern families alike.”

It used to be you had to own a motorcycle to accelerate at the speed the Tomahawk claims. If Dubuc raises sufficient capital it will have one of the fastest production cars in the world.
