York Cocoa Works Surpasses £250,000 Funding Target During the Final Week on Crowdcube

UK-based York Cocoa Works has successfully secured its initial £250,000 funding target from nearly 400 investors during the final week on equity crowdfunding platform CrowdcubeYork Cocoa Work states its Cocoa House is a “destination for chocolate lovers” and each year it welcomes thousands of visitors to the chocolate cafe. It was noted that York Cocoa Works offers chocolate products across 4 business streams; hospitality, retail products, Education & Experiences, and Industrial & Commercial.

Our online Chocolate Emporium sends products worldwide, while our growing customer base makes increased demand for chocolate made in York. Over 6 years trading we’ve observed growth in conscientious, discerning consumers demanding ethical & sustainable chocolate. We have struggled to service this growth as commercial fine chocolate is often imported into the UK.”

The company also revealed:

We want to bring fine quality chocolate manufacturing back to York to capitalize. York Cocoa Works will be a Chocolate Production, Education and Development Centre in York. We will source sustainable and traceable fine cocoa which visitors will be able to see as it’s transformed. The city’s chocolate makers will train a new generation and UK chocolate companies will have access to their own manufacturing development and production centre.

Funds from the Crowdcube campaign will be used for Fit-out, Manufacturing Equipment, Furnishings, Packaging and Ingredient costs. The initiative is set to close on September 12th.
