P2P: Bondora Reports Record Month for Loan Originations

Bondora, a peer to peer lending platform based in Estonia, has reported a record number of loan originations for September. According to a short note from the P2P lender, Bondora saw originations rise to € 5,527,855 in September – a 4.7% increase versus the prior month.

Bondora is an interesting platform for investors as it provides multiple methods which an investor can invest in loans – depending on how engaged the investor wants to be. Most of the loans are quite small, consumer unsecured financing. The average loan is around €2300 and the platform is reporting a current net return for investors of 11% ( a range of 8.86% – 16.86% depending on risk net of defaults).

To date, Bondora has signed up about 42,000 investors having financed €150 million. Bondora has an excellent statistics page where you can view the historic performance of the platform. There is also a secondary market for the debt based assets.

Bondoro is investor agnostic and anyone over the age of 18 living in the European Union, Switzerland or Norway and businesses registered in the EU or from any other country approved by Bondora.

If you happen to be from a more rigid country, like the US, you will need to qualify as an accredited investor. Bondora states that 69% of investors, including 255 from the US, have earned over 9% annually. Bondora claims to be one of the highest yielding peer to peer lending platforms in the global marketplace. All loans are are issued by the parent company, Bondora AS, which retains a share of the risk of every loan it offers, thus interests are better aligned. Having been in business for almost a decade, the company has a respectable track record.
