Latin American Insurtech Jooycar Announces Expansion into the U.S.

Jooycar, a Chilean insurtech that is seeking to disrupt the auto insurance and telematics space in Latin America, announced on Tuesday it has officially expanded its service to the U.S. with the launch of a GPS vehicle tracking solution. This launch comes less than six months after Jooycar reportedly secured $700,000 through HCS Capital as it plans to continue expansion to the U.S. efforts. The company announced its U.S. expansion plans back in December 2019.

As previously reported, Jooycar described itself as the first connected car platform to launch in Latin America. The company claimed its telematics-based technology leverages real-time big data sourced from cars and drivers to deliver enhanced end-user services (B2C) and create new business opportunities for the insurance and automotive industries (B2B).

“With Jooycar connected car service, our consumers receive a telematic hardware device (while the cars still do not have this hardware embedded) and an account that provides users with access to their connected car services through a web portal and a mobile app.”

According to Jooycar, the solution, “Fleetr,” is a fleet management tool that is specifically designed to meet the “unique needs” of small and medium-size companies with light-vehicle fleets.

“The software is designed around the needs of small business owners with a fleet of vehicles: real-time data, results and dashboards that are easily found in a mobile application or with a few clicks on an intuitive web interface.  The user experience is friendly and easy, in order to optimize the time spent on managing fleets.”

While sharing more details about the solution and expansion, Rachel Corn, Fleetr’s Executive Director, stated:

The application is designed to allow fleet owners to track drivers, promote safety, save money, and ensure proper vehicle maintenance.  In short, for an affordable price we offer a solution that provides peace of mind and savings for the small fleet owner.”

Rodrigo Labbé, CEO of Jooycar, added:

“Being leaders in connected cars in LATAM, we have gained knowledge and technical expertise to build the next generation vehicle tracking solution.  Fleetr is a revolution in the U.S. market.”
