Visa to Double Match Employee Donations, Up to $1M to UNICEF, Red Cross Ukraine Response Funds

During the past few days, the team at Visa (NYSE: V) has been watching the tragic scenes in Ukraine with “deep sadness and disbelief.” The firm noted that their “hearts go out to the many people and families seeking safety, shelter and peace following the invasion of Ukraine.”

Visa also mentioned that their number one priority “is ensuring the safety and security of [their] colleagues who are directly impacted.” They also want to support, together with their employees and Visa Foundation, “humanitarian efforts to help meet basic needs.”

To that end, Visa Foundation will “provide a $2 million grant to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine.”

The company added that they are proud “to support the courageous work of UNICEF and their humanitarian relief efforts.” Visa will also “double match all employee donations (up to $1 million) to the Ukraine response funds of UNICEF and the Red Cross.”

Beyond these efforts, Visa is “taking prompt action to ensure compliance with applicable sanctions, and is prepared to comply with additional sanctions that may be implemented.”

The firm also noted that their thoughts “are with the Ukrainian people and all those impacted. We hope for a peaceful resolution soon.”

The Ukraine government as well as other NGOs and media firms have also utilized cryptocurrency to quickly, and instantly raise dearly needed funds as the Russian war against Ukraine devastate the country.

Unchain Ukraine aims to support NGOs such as Voices of Children, International Medical Corps, and the Polish Center for International Aid.
