Macquarie Real Estate Partners Invests in Australia’s Investment Manager IDA

Macquarie Real Estate Partners (MREP), a real estate fund managed by Macquarie Asset Management’s Real Estate division (MAM), announced it has invested in IDA, an Australian specialist real estate private credit and investment manager.

The investment by MREP will provide funding to support the growth of IDA’s specialist real estate private credit and investment management platform.

IDA remains focused on seeking to deliver risk-adjusted returns for its client base across Private Credit, High Yield and Land Syndication & Community Creation investment strategies, leveraging the “demand for Australian real estate development financing which is underpinned by a structural undersupply of housing and reduced availability of traditional bank financing for developments.”

IDA’s founding partners Adam Kaye, Robbie Fallon and Jeremy Urbach will retain majority ownership and continue to “lead IDA’s day-to-day management.”

MREP, the second vehicle in MAM Real Estate’s opportunistic fund series, leverages Macquarie Asset Management’s record of investing in and partnering with specialist operators and aims to “create a diversified portfolio targeting real estate sectors supported by strong structural macroeconomic drivers.”

James Kemp, Head of Real Estate Asia Pacific, Macquarie Asset Management, said:

“MAM Real Estate has extensive experience investing in specialist operators, like IDA. We focus on sectors that are supported by structural tailwinds and then find the best business or team in that sector to partner with.”

IDA’s record demonstrates the management team’s “ability to price and manage risk through cycles.”

Founded in 2010, IDA specializes in providing mid-market real estate private credit and financing solutions and has been a capital “partner in over $A5 billion of projects across more than 100 investments.”

With a network of development partners, IDA is active across real estate asset classes and can provide “capital solutions across all parts of the capital stack.”

Since inception, IDA reportedly has a record of investing “across Private Credit, High Yield and Land Syndication & Community Creation investment strategies.”

Adam Kaye, Founding Partner and Managing Director, said:

“This strategic investment by MREP validates the quality and strength of our platform and will enable us to significantly enhance our offerings to our valued investment clients whilst also offering our borrower clients even greater flexibility, certainty and speed.”

Established in 2010, IDA is a Melbourne-based specialist real estate private credit and investment manager.

Matching origination, structuring and investment management capabilities with private wholesale capital and real estate financing and investment opportunities, IDA creates and manages real-estate backed investment portfolios for its investors whilst “offering flexible and accretive capital solutions to Australian middle-market real estate owners and developers.”

As a capital partner in over A$5.0bn in projects, IDA has deep and broad experience within all real estate asset classes & typologies and “all parts of the capital stack.”

Operating under the majority ownership of founding partners Adam Kaye, Robbie Fallon and Jeremy Urbach, IDA employs a team of finance and investment professionals and maintains a “proprietary approach to business co-investing meaningfully alongside IDA’s valued investment and development partners.”
