Earlier this week, Netherland-based Propeaq launched a Seedrs campaign to raise £120,000 so that it may send its “Wearable Light Therapy Devices” to the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janiero. According to the company, the eyewear is designed to help the human body achieve high performance while dealing with the effects of travel.
“High-quality LED’s are integrated in the glasses and will be Bluetooth controlled by our proprietary and distinct Propeaq App. Just put on your Propeaq glasses, activate your app and you can control and manage your biological clock to optimize your performance. You will only have to wear the glasses for a short time in the evening and morning to get the results you need.”
Each pair of Propeaq glasses has the following:
- Bluetooth controlled light therapy engineered LED units
- Two sets of interchangeable lenses (blue/red)
- Hard case for protection
- Microfiber pouch
- USB cable and charger
- App for total control
- Extra long battery life
- Rechargeable
The Propeaq app alerts the users when to wear the glasses; when to use the LED lights; and which lenses (blue or red) to use. The company revealed that over 100 of the eyewear have been ordered by Dutch, Belgian and Australian athletes for the preparation of the Summer Olympics.
Propeaq noted 80% of the Seedrs’ campaign funds would be used for the production and transportation of the first patch of the glasses:
“Of the first batch of glasses produced, a significant portion are reserved for the Olympic athletes going to Rio. The remainder of the proceeds will be used to upgrade the website, marketing, and logistics.”
The initiative is set to close at the end of August.
