Kickstarter’s “Bill Nye Film” to Premiere Extended Trailer at Tribeca Film Festival

David Alvarado and Jason Sussberg, the filmmakers behind the upcoming Bill Nye Film, announced on Friday that they will be taking over the Tribeca Film Festival movie theater to show an extended trailer of the documentary on Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

Bill Nye 3The project surfaced on the crowdfunding portal last summer and captured $859,425 from 16,850 backers. Its description reads:

“Bill Nye is on a quest to change the world, and we want you to be part of it! Once the host of a popular kid’s show, Bill is about to take off his Science Guy lab coat and battle the naysayers to create a more scientifically literate and engaged universe. We’re going to make a film about it. A film for science. A film for the cosmos. The full access, exclusive film about Bill Nye.”

Alvarado and Sussberg previously revealed:

Bill Nye“We’re documentary filmmakers, but we’re also hardcore Bill Nye fans who spent our middle school years learning about the ecosystem and the color spectrum from his trusty VHS tapes. Bill’s passion and enthusiasm stayed with us, and when we got older, we started making films about science and technology. When we learned that Bill Nye was doing something new, working outside of the classroom to champion science and space exploration and the fight against climate change, we knew we had to make this documentary.”

Backers of the campaign (who are in New York City) will be able to see the trailer for free through this code: PROGTFF23. This is a first come, first serve and seats are limited.
